{"id":528,"date":"2013-03-19T18:55:29","date_gmt":"2013-03-19T17:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prajnaquest.fr\/blog\/?p=528"},"modified":"2013-05-31T02:05:13","modified_gmt":"2013-05-31T00:05:13","slug":"the-footnote-in-sd-i-14-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/prajnaquest.fr\/blog\/the-footnote-in-sd-i-14-15\/","title":{"rendered":"The footnote in SD I, 14-15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In SD I, 14 we find<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i>Herbert Spencer has of late so far modified his Agnosticism, as to assert that the nature of the &#8220;First Cause,&#8221;* which the Occultist more logically derives from the &#8220;Causeless Cause,&#8221; the &#8220;Eternal,&#8221; and the &#8220;Unknowable,&#8221; [&#8230;]<\/i><\/p>\n<p>where the asterisk refers to the following footnote:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i>* The &#8220;first&#8221; presupposes necessarily something which is the &#8220;first brought forth, the first in time, space, and rank&#8221; &#8212; and therefore finite and conditioned. The &#8220;first&#8221; cannot be the absolute, for it is a manifestation. Therefore, Eastern Occultism calls the Abstract All the &#8220;Causeless One Cause,&#8221; the &#8220;Rootless Root,&#8221; and limits the &#8220;First Cause&#8221; to the Logos, in the sense that Plato gives to this term.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cFirst Cause\u201d is the manifested Logos, the Logos proper, \u201cin the sense Plato gives to this term\u201d, which is the <i>Second<\/i> Logos, as we have shown earlier.
